Chief Pilot 

Full-time Chief Pilot position is available at Air New England, a small but vibrant 135 operator based in beautiful Portsmouth, NH. Our fleet consists of a King Air 90 and a Beech Baron 58. We are in the final stages of conformity, adding a Citation Mustang to the fleet.  This position requires an individual with exceptional leadership skills and an unwavering desire to cultivate and protect a company culture rooted in a positive, safety first, team-based atmosphere.

Qualifications

  • Current FAA Multi-Engine ATP pilot certificate
  • Must meet the minimum qualifications of 14 CFR Part 119.71
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs)
  • Ability to be available to work or be on call beyond normal office hours
  • Must have demonstrated leadership abilities, interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
  • Must not have any FAA violations, suspensions or any criminal history
  • Special consideration for previously held Chief Pilot duties

Responsibilities

  • The Chief Pilot (135) is responsible for the performance of assigned flight crews and associated support personnel to ensure flight operational safety and compliance with the flight standards embodied within 14 CFR regulations and the company Op Specs and manual system
  • The 135 Chief Pilot’s primary role is to serve and support the pilot group operating under CFR 135 and Part 91
  • The Chief Pilot (CP) shall have a full understanding of the operation with an emphasis on aviation standards and safe operating practices
  • The Chief Pilot shall also maintain currency as a line Captain, instructor, and check airman in at least one type of aircraft on the ANE operating certificate
  • Exercises Operational Control as authorized by the DO
  • Assists Flight Operations/Dispatch personnel in crew selection and pairing, flight operational decision-making, and provides solutions for technical issues that arise in the course of flight operations
  • Participates in certification activities for new flight operations programs and capabilities
  • Develops and maintains flight standards policies and procedures
  • Exercises supervisory control over all pilot interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination
  • Exercises supervisory control over company check airman functions
  • Other duties as assigned

Responsibilities: 
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations supervising a small group of charter specialists
  • Identity and resolve pinch-points that strengthens our operation and the customer experience
  • Liaise with company officers and departments and act as the first line of defense to minimize miscues
  • Share in the leadership responsibilities as we plan our marketing strategies, strengthen our relationship with governing bodies (FAA) and prepare ourself for growth
  • Have the fortitude to act in a safety sensitive capacity 
  • Other duties as assigned to conduct business.

Job Requirements:

  • Aviation experience is highly preferred but prior management experience will be considered
  • Customer driven, safety first mindset
  • Marketing and sales experience a strong plus 
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills with the ability to develop a rapport with customers through all communication venues
  • Ability to meet schedules and deadlines
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be willing to delegate or help with all job assignments no matter how menial (aircraft cleaning, shopping for snacks etc.)
  • Submit to an initial drug test along with random drug and alcohol testing in order to comply with safety and company guidelines

  • 1500  Total Hours Minimum
  • 500 Hours Cross-Country
  • 100 Hours Night Cross-Country
  • 100 Hours Combined Hood, IMC   * Must be IFR current
  • 500 Hours Multi-Engine Minimum
  • 200 Turboprop Hours Minimum
  • BE9L C90 Time a plus
  • Second-Class Medical
  • Commercial Certificate with Instrument (ATP is Preferred)
  • Multi-Engine and Single-Engine Ratings
  • Must work well with a team
  • Must be Customer Service driven
